TODAY IS THE 28TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

Prison Week runs from 10th – 16th October. We are asked to pray for prisoners and their families, some of the most socially excluded people in our society, that they will see light in the darkness and know that God has good planned for them. We also pray for prison chaplains who, under difficult circumstances, offer care and compassion to those in custody.

Today is the feast day of St Francis Borgia who gave up his Spanish Dukedom and all his possessions after the death of his wife. He joined the newly formed Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and, as well as founding the Gregorian University of Rome, opened Jesuit missions all round the world. Many people hear a call to serve in later life and we never know what the Lord has in store for us.
